Pellet Therapy

We could say “Really Good” above, and it wouldn’t be hyperbole. Or so we’ve been told by the patients we’ve been treating with pellet therapy at Thrive Health Solutions for years. Is pellet therapy a cure for everything? No. But it is an answer to a whole lot of health issues that may have been bothering you.

You might ask, “what are pellets”? Pellets are compounded hormones like estradiol and testosterone that are made from all-natural organic plant materials which have the exact molecular structure of those hormones already found in your body. The pellets release small amounts of hormone directly into the bloodstream similar to that which the ovaries and testes produced during our younger adult years.

How long since you’ve really felt like yourself? You remember—when you leapt out of bed ready to take on the world, instead of feeling like the world was taking you on. Taking all the energy you had, to do everything you love. Hormone imbalances that come with aging can easily creep up on you. You never really see it coming. You start to feel like you’re aging faster than they can put candles on your cake. “Blah”, would be a good generalized description.

As we enter our 30s, you might begin to notice some of the more unpleasant changes that occur with the aging process from low energy, to low libido. Just as we all have differences in our external appearance, our internal appearance and changes in key hormone levels like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone vary, too. And with them, a variety of different very unwanted symptoms. The longer that levels are not optimal the more the symptoms occur and are able to create a snowball effect. When left unchecked this can begin to impact other hormone levels.

According to the American Urological Association, about 2 out of 10 men older than 60 years have low testosterone. That increases slightly to 3 out of 10 men in their 70s and 80s. But wait…even a younger built body (all those hours at the gym) can have their testosterone take a downward turn. And the symptoms of Low T, can rival those of a menopausal woman:

Weight gain (especially around the middle)

Hair loss-balding, but also hair loss on your face and body

  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Reduced bone density (it’s not just for women)
  • Memory Loss
  • Mood changes
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle and joint discomfort
  • Difficulty sleeping at night
  • Sleep apnea
  • Less red cell production
  • Anemia

Oh, and you’re not going to be happy about this:

  • Reduced sexual desire and performance (Low libido by any other name)
  • Smaller testicles
  • And NO! The dreaded man boobs.

During menopause, hormones like estrogen and progesterone can start to take some wild dips, and these imbalances can take a real hit on your health. Actually, menopausal symptoms can begin sooner than menopause. Women enter a stage called pre-menopause or perimenopause which can start 5-10 years before periods cease.  And that’s when you can feel it coming on:

  • Mood swings
  • Night sweats
  • Hair loss
  • Weigh gain, and inability to lose weight regardless of a healthy diet and exercise
  • Decreased muscle strength
  • Lack of energy and fatigue
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Osteoporosis
  • The Oh-So-Dreaded Hot Flashes
  • And yes, like men, a low libido with reduced sexual desire and performance. Not to mention the pain during sex from vaginal dryness.

Hormone imbalances can hold you hostage if levels aren’t restored to optimal levels. But how is that done? There are two types of hormones that can be used in hormone replacement therapy; bio-identical, and synthetic. Bio-identical hormones are exactly that—identical. They offer an exact match for your body’s natural hormones. Their “bioidentical “structure allows these hormones to follow the same pathways and act on the same receptors as your natural hormones, making the risk of side effects minimal and the safety and efficacy of the treatment optimal.

Synthetic hormones are manufactured or synthesized in a lab and patented. Lab, as in test tubes or whatever else you can imagine. Because they don’t act the same as your natural hormones, the body isn’t too happy they’re there. Not only do synthetic hormones have to pass through your liver, but their artificiality can lead to a list of complications and risks.

When it comes to balancing your hormones, nothing is more natural than bioidentical pellet therapy. And the most natural place to turn to for help, is Thrive Health Solutions.  If it has to do with hormones, the hormone experts at Thrive know all about them.  And have been successfully using pellet therapy on patients for years.

Before you start pellet therapy, your caring and understanding Thrive medical practitioner will work with you to customize your treatment plan by measuring your hormone levels, calculating how much is necessary to enhance those levels and alleviate your symptoms. Calibrating dosage is critical because each person has unique needs that must be taken into account to optimize treatment efficacy. Just one important reason you need experienced specialists like everyone at Thrive.

Using a painless office procedure, the pellets, which are as tiny as a grain of rice, are inserted under the skin in the hip or buttock area and immediately begin to deliver a consistent level of hormones 24/7. After just 1-3 days you can start feeling the first effects. Over the next 2-4 weeks these will increase. Pellets generally last 90 days or so, so you really don’t have to think about it. “Forgetting” doesn’t apply with pellet therapy as can happen with iffy pills or sticky patches. But “remembering” does apply. Remembering this is how really, really good feels. Text or call Thrive Health Solutions for an appointment now. A younger, healthier “you” is waiting.
